My favorite stories are slow and thoughtful.
I grew up in Northwest Iowa, and I miss the unbroken sky. I have taught literature, reporting, invasive species ecology, improvised comedy, and sex education.
I graduated in 2019 from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Journalism. I know how to fact-check, collect and interpret data, edit prose. I write reported features, analysis, essays, profiles, and oral histories.
I love film photography, particularly shooting in black and white.
